Minnesota Twins activate Ricky Nolasco

Sometimes the impossible happens. Sometimes that impossible is Ricky Nolasco being activated before initially thought. That is what happening for the Minnesota Twins right now. They activated the one-time biggest free agent signing in team history on Friday, according to 1500ESPN.

Nolasco missed 103 games due to ankle surgery, but is now back with the major league team. Nolasco will not be pitching out of the starting rotation, at least that’™s the plan, but Nolasco will be available out of the bullpen. It isn’™t clear if Nolasco will even get work out of the pen

Nolasco has returned to late to the party to get any work in the minor leagues since the seasons are over now for Twins affiliates.

To make room for the former Miami Marlin and Los Angeles Dodgers hurler, the Twins placed Logan Darnell on the 60-day disabled list. Darnell has been fighting and recovering from pneumonia. Darnell was a September call-up for the Twins, but never did appear for the Twins in 2015.

Nolasco’™s return is more interesting than it really should be for the Twins. If the Twins do have the opportunity to play some playoff baseball, Nolasco might just be needed with Ervin Santana being suspended for the postseason and Tyler Duffey never having pitched this many innings before.

In a perfect world, Nolasco will not have to appear for the Twins, but as good as some of the pitching has looked for the Twins as of late, it is also really nice to have some potential options.
