Minnesota Twins need to grow up and get over bat flip
The Minnesota Twins hate fun and hate seeing anyone having fun on the baseball diamond. In the eyes of the Twins, showing any emotion on the diamond is a deadly sin and you should be punished in a court of law.
Last night, in the night cap of the doubleheader against the Cleveland Indians, Jose Ramirez hit a three-run home run off of Ricky Nolasco to make it a 10-1 ballgame at the time. Ramirez proceeded to pimp the home run, as some would say, and flip his bat right in front of the Twins’ dugout.
This got the Twins bench all sorts of fired up. The video shows manager Paul Molitor, hitting coach Tom Brunansky and catcher Kurt Suzuki all yelling at Ramirez as he touched home plate with some foul language involved.
You can see it here for yourself:
Here’s the thing. If you don’t want Ramirez showing off, don’t give Ramirez the opportunity to hit a three-run home run and really burry you in a game that you really needed to win. If I was Ramirez, I would have done the same thing. Putting another nail in the coffin of a division rival while they are battling for a playoff spot, that’s what gets athletes going.
Of course, Nolasco had to say something stupid after the game to MLB.com.

“”He’ll get his. Don’t worry,” Nolaso said. No putting every Twins pitcher in danger of getting tossed if they even accidentally hit a Cleveland batter on Thursday night.
I get players being mad, but I am disappointed in the coaching staff. Your manager should know better than to nag this kind of thing on. It does nothing for your ball club that needs to win every game for the rest of the season to try and sneak in the playoffs.
Just shut up, get over it and try to win. Go and actually defeat a Cleveland team that really has nothing to play for and then go have a dance party. Something you’d probably complain about if it happened on the field.
