Minnesota Timberwolves: Towns, Garnett grace SI cover
As the NBA season quickly approaches, the folks at Sports Illustrated put together their NBA Season Preview magazine chalked full with NBA info and analysis. Anyway, this season SI decided to release a series of different cover photos, including one featuring Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Karl-Anthony Towns and longtime veteran Kevin Garnett.
The idea behind the multiple different cover photos is from Sports Illustrated writer Lee Jenkins’ piece in the latest issue, which will be released tomorrow, where he looks at how the education of the next generation of NBA stars is beginning now. Besides Towns and Garnett, other covers include Los Angeles Lakers guards D’Angelo Russell and Kobe Bryant, and Miami Heat wingmen Justice Winslow and Dwyane Wade. An additional cover edition including LaMarcus Aldridge and Tim Duncan of the San Antonio Spurs is also being released.
This season should be an interesting one for the Timberwolves, as it appears they will be receiving a decent amount of media attention throughout the season due to the corps of young talent that should be really fun for fans to watch all season.
Additionally, the whole dynamic of a future Hall of Famer in Garnett mentoring and educating a kid with the talent of Towns is an intriguing prospect for NBA fans all around the world, not just locally in Minnesota. It’s tough to not get excited thinking about the type of player Towns could be in five years for the Timberwolves.
