Minnesota Vikings score 22 straight, defeat Lions
If you can ignore the first quarter, you can be really happy with what the Minnesota Vikings did on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Plus a road win in the NFL is always a good thing. The Vikings defeated the Lions 28-19 on Sunday in Detroit.
The Lions scored a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter which was making the Vikings defense look, well, un-Vikings defense like. With five minutes to go in the first half, the Lions had opened up a 17-6 lead over the Vikings, but the Lions wouldn’t score themselves again.
The Vikings would go on a 22 point unanswered run stretching from just inside the two-minute warning in the first half to the last minute of the game when Detroit got a couple points. Detroit’s final two points were literally given to them as Vikings punter Jeff Locke intentionally ran out of bounds in the end zone for a safety.
It took a while for the offense to get going for Minnesota, but it looked pretty good once it got going. Bridgewater went 25/35 for 316 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Adrian Peterson was held just two yards short of the century mark on 19 carries with one really nice 75-yard scamper.
Stefon Diggs had another impressive game. Diggs had six catches for 108 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown catch was thing of beauty with Diggs diving to catch the ball while landing in the end-zone. Mike Wallace caught four balls. Jarius Wright had three catches. Zach Line had one catch, but it was for a Vikings long of 49-yards.
Harrison Smith lead the Vikings with nine total tackles including a sack. Eric Kendricks lead the team with six solo sacks including an impressive two sacks. Sacks were the name of the game with the purple getting to Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford for seven sacks total.
Stafford went 18/26 for 256 yards and two touchdowns. Eric Ebron and Calvin Johnson were the targets of choice. Ebron had five catches for 89 yards and a TD. Johnson had five catches for 86 yards and a TD.

We were so close to pronouncing that Blair Walsh was back. Walsh went 5/5 on field goals including a couple of hits from beyond 50 yards. The only issue is that Walsh missed an extra point attempt, so close to a perfect day for the Vikings kicker.
The Vikings with the win improve to 4-2. The Lions fall to 1-6. Next week the Lions are traveling to London to take on the Kansas City Chiefs. The Vikings will also be next to a big body of water, but it’ll only be Lake Michigan in Chicago to take on the Bears.
