That former Jayhawk, of course, was Andrew Wiggins who had a pretty nice rookie campaign for the Timberwolves a season ago. Wiggins played and started in all 82 games for the Wolves last season averaging 16.9 points per game and 4.6 rebounds a game.
The encouraging thing is that Wiggins got better as his rookie season went along and that’s all you are really looking for in such a young player. Wiggins was averaging over 24 points a game in April of last season and that might be a little too much to expect from Wiggins in year two of his career, it’s great to see that flash.
Someday in the really not-so-distant future, Wiggins will need to be the main load-carrier for a team that should be making playoff runs. Let’s see how a full year under NBA supervision and coaching has helped a still very young Andrew Wiggins mature and improve.
