Ricky Rubio
Ricky Rubio might become Joe Mauer Jr. for the Timberwolves this year or he might become the basketball version of Miguel Sano. Rubio, as we are all aware, has been very injury prone his whole NBA career, which is obviously a concern, but Rubio has also never been surrounded by this much talent before.
The Spaniard is a really, really good point guard, people. He distributes the ball so amazingly well that it is quite literally jaw-dropping at times. Yes, he can’t really shoot and the conception is that you should be able to at the NBA-level, but who needs to shoot when your passing can get all of your other teammates open?
Rubio just turned 25. He’s young and should be the floor general of this crew of Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins for a long time to come if he can stay healthy.
There’s reasons to be high on Rubio and there are reasons to be low. I choose the high side, because there is some really special basketball talent in that 6-4 frame. If he’s wearing a business suit more than a basketball uniform at the end of the season, well, then we can talk different.
