Minnesota Twins given long odds to win 2016 World Series

The World Series is over, so that means we all quickly look to what might be coming up in the 2016 baseball season. Las Vegas is not really high on the Minnesota Twins.

The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook has given the Twins 40-1 odds to win the World Series in 2016 which, according to match, ties them for the 18th best odds in baseball. The Twins are tied at 40-1 with the likes of the Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays. The Westgate has given better odds to the likes of the Detroit Tigers (20-1), Seattle Mariners (30-1), Boston Red Sox (18-1) and New York Yankees (16-1).

It could be worse. The Philadelphia Phillies have the worst odds of winning the World Series at 300-1. The Atlanta Braves and Colorado Rockies are the only teams also at over 100 with the two being at 100-1 and 150-1 to respectively.

Westgate has the Los Angeles Dodgers as the favorite right now at 8-1 followed by a foursome of teams (New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals) at 10-1. The St. Louis Cardinals, Texas Rangers, Houston Astros and Pittsburgh Pirates all are given 12-1 odds. The defending World Series champion Kansas City Royals are slated at 18-1 going into 2016. The San Francisco Giants, who have won the World Series every even numbered year since 2010, are at 20-1 odds.

More from Minnesota Twins

It doesn’t seem likely that the Minnesota Twins will win the World Series in 2016, but crazier things have happened. Who thought they’d have the season they had in 2015 and the Cubs and Astros proved that instantaneous success is more than possible.

Of course, these odds will change a lot between now and Opening Day. Whoever grabs the likes of David Price and Zack Greinke will shoot to the top. I have doubts the Minnesota Twins will grab either.
