Minnesota Vikings: Adrian Peterson named Ground Player of the Week

A game-clinching 80-yard run and a total of 203 yards against the Oakland Raiders last Sunday launched Adrian Peterson into his 15th winning of the FedEx Ground Player of the Week. Only LaDainian Tomlinson has won the award more times with 18.

This is the first time that Peterson has won the award since Week 13 of the 2013 season in a 211 rushing yard performance against the Chicago Bears at the Metrodome.

Peterson also tied some NFL records on Sunday against the Raiders. The 80-yard touchdown run was his 18th career touchdown of 40 yards or more and that ties the NFL record held by Barry Sanders. The game was also Peterson’s sixth 200-yard rushing game which ties an NFL record held by O.J. Simpson.

Peterson currently leads the NFL in rushing yards with a total of 961 yards. Peterson will look to continue his success this Sunday against the Green Bay Packers in Minneapolis.
