Minnesota Gophers come back to defeat Omaha
The Minnesota Golden Gophers returned home from a 1-2 Puerto Rico tournament for a Friday matinee that was real tight against Omaha.
It took a whole half for the Gophers leading scorer Joey King to get going again, but he helped put Minnesota ahead of Omaha on Friday afternoon. King knocked down all four of his three pointers, he attempted all of them in the second half, to once again lead the Gophers in scoring with 18 points in a 93-90 victory.
No sign of King in the first half allowed Omaha a one-point 42-41 lead at the Barn. King and four more scored in double digits in the game to pull ahead of the non-conference opponent. Bakary Konate had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Nate Mason added 16 points and Carlos Morris put in 17. Jordan Murphy was the high man off the bench for Minnesota with 14 points.
Charles Buggs was the only Gopher starter not to score in double-digits. Buggs had eight points and eight rebounds in the game against Omaha.
