Minnesota Vikings get throttled by the Seattle Seahawks

The Minnesota Vikings were looking to keep their spot atop the NFC North, but instead lost their look as a major contender in the NFC in a loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Some games just don’t go your way and nothing went right for the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon against the Seattle Seahawks. The combination of injuries and the Seahawks stifling everything the Vikings wanted to do resulted in a 38-7 Seattle win.

Seattle didn’t allow the best running back in the league, Adrian Peterson, to do anything. Peterson only got eight carries in the game and ran for only 18 yards. Jerick McKinnon had 18 yards on four carries. The Vikings only registered 31 rushing yards the total game. Thomas Rawls ran for 101 yards on 19 carries as the main back for Seattle on Sunday.

While Peterson didn’t look great, Russell Wilson looked like he could take on the world. Wilson was 21/27 for 274 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for 51 yards. Teddy Bridgewater went 17/28 for 118 yards and an interception.

Bridgewater hit seven different receivers, but no one flashed. Mike Wallace was the high man with two catches for 43 yards. Peterson had the most catches for the Vikings with four.

Doug Baldwin had five catches for 94 yards and Tyler Lockett had seven catches for 90 yards in the game.

The only scoring play, and really the only highlight, for the Vikings was a kickoff return for a touchdown from Cordarrelle Patterson. Patterson returned a kick 101 yards for the score. Patterson had 198 total return yards on five returns.

With the loss the Vikings fall into second place in the NFC North. The Vikings have the same record as the Green Bay Packers at 8-4, but the Packers hold the tiebreaker. Minnesota doesn’t get much rest and will play right away again on Thursday on the road against the Arizona Cardinals.
