The Minnesota Vikings drew the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Wild Card round.

The Minnesota Vikings weren’t really supposed to win the NFC North this season, but they did. It took a victory over the rival Green Bay Packers in the last game of the regular season to take the crown, but they did it. What do the Vikings get for the win? Some cool hats and shirts, sure, but they also get the joy of having a home playoff game. The only issue is that the game is against the Seattle Seahawks.

Once you get in the playoffs, every team, for the most part, will give you a tough game, but the Seahawks are a little extra scary. Seattle has won the NFC the past two seasons and they beat down a really good Arizona Cardinals team on Sunday by the score of 36-6 in Arizona.

Vikings fans know how Seattle has a tendency of beating down good teams. The Seahawks beat up the Vikings just a handful of weeks ago at TCF Bank Stadium by a score of 38-7. In that game Russell Wilson threw for 274 yards on 21/27 passing for three touchdowns. He’s pretty darn good.

Scarier yet is the fact that the Seahawks did that without the services of Marshawn Lynch. The stud running back might be back in time for the game on Sunday in Minneapolis adding another weapon to the Seattle brigade.

Seattle’s defense is world class, too. This will not be an easy matchup for the Vikings.

The good news is that the Vikings have looked energized and hungry after getting destroyed by Seattle earlier this season. Teddy Bridgewater had looked great in every week after and dipped down a little bit in the regular season finale against the Packers. Adrian Peterson started running like a man possessed. The Vikings defense is all back healthy, except for Linval Joseph, which wasn’t the case for the majority of the first matchup against Seattle.

More from Minnesota Vikings

Seattle isn’t exactly coming in on a huge win streak. They did defeat the Cards in the final week, but the week before they were rolled by the under .500 St. Louis Rams. It might’ve been a fluke, but it truly shows that in football, anything can happen.

On paper it might’ve been more attractive for the Vikings to take on Green Bay again or Washington, but the playoffs are never easy and the Vikings have drawn a tough opponent for the first round. You can’t be the best without beating the rest of the best.
