Captain Munnerlyn has been awarded the Performance of the Week award for his game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night.

Another week, another Bridgestone Performance of the Week award for a Minnesota Vikings defender. That’s what we all really hope for each week, right? A victory from our favorite team and for someone from said team to get an award sponsored by people who produce tires. I know that’s what I want.

Captain Munnerlyn is this week’s lucky recipient for a nice game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night which resulted in a Vikings victory with the victory an NFC North championship, too. It was a big game.

Munnerlyn’s performance did help the Vikings to victory. Late in the third quarter, Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was hit by defensive end Everson Griffen which caused a fumble. Munnerlyn scooped up the ball and ran it back to the house for a Vikings touchdown, one of only two touchdowns in the game for the Purple.

More from Minnesota Vikings

This is the second straight week a Vikings defender was honored by the folks at Bridgestone. Last week, Harrison Smith was given the award after a nice game against the New York Giants which was also featured on Sunday Night Football.

Munnerlyn’s performance this week helped the Vikings win the division which results in the Vikings getting a first round home game in the playoffs. The Vikings will be tasked with taking on the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday afternoon.
