Minnesota Wild: There’s A New Sheriff In Town
After going through two different head coaches this past season, the Minnesota Wild have a new sheriff in town.
Bruce Boudreau will be the next head coach for the Minnesota Wild. The announcement was made on Saturday. He will be looking to help this franchise turn a corner and take the next step. Boudreau will be replacing John Torchetti, who was the interim coach for the Minnesota Wild this season. He was not asked to become the full time head coach after the Wild were eliminated in six games by the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Wild started the season under coach Mike Yeo. He was fired on February 13th.
Boudreau last coached the Anaheim Ducks. He led them to a division title in each of the last four seasons. After losing in Game 7 in the Stanley Cup playoffs this season, he was let go. He was fired on April 29th. After the firing, Boudreau was not confident he would get another job.
In five season with the Ducks, he finished with a record of 208-104-40. Before that he coached the Washington Capitals from 2007- 2012. In 2007-2008, he won the Jack Adams award. The Jack Adams award is given to the coach to have contributed the most to his team’s success. In a nine-year career as a head coach, Boudreau 409-192-80.

Again, Boudreau was not out of work for long. In 2011, after being fired by the Capitals, he was hired by the Ducks two days later. This time around after being fired by the Ducks, he was hired by the Wild 10 days later. His resume is a huge reason on why he isn’t without a job for long. Before taking the Wild job, he had a six-hour interview with the Ottawa Senators. After being hired by the Minnesota hockey club he had this to say about why he choose to take the job.
"“I just thought it would be a place that we could win. I know the team is good already,” Boudreau told the Minneapolis Star Tribune on Sunday. “… Their top, top players are really good, and now it’s a matter of being a really good team.”"
Boudreau will sign a four-year contract worth around 12 million, according to multiple reports. He will be introduced on Tuesday. In my opinion, this is a great hire. A coach with a winning resume that will hopefully get this team past the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
