Jose Berrios Optioned to Triple-A Rochester
After just four starts, the up and coming pitching prospect Jose Berrios will be sent back down to Triple-A Rochester.
After a bad outing Monday night, Jose Berrios is on his way back to the minor leagues. Berrios allowed 7 runs and could not work his way out of the first inning in yesterday’s game against the Detriot Tigers.
Berrios gave up seventeen earned runs over fifteen innings with twelve walks and twenty strikeouts. He has the stuff, just not the control down. He is the top pitching prospect in the Minnesota Twins franchise. He will be sent to Rochester to play with recently optioned Byron Buxton, who is now on a tear and finally finding his bat.
Last weekend J.R. Graham was traded to the Yankees for a player to be named or a cash sum. This move was thought to be done to open up a roster spot. After sitting on the roster for a full year and making one appearance, it seemed as if the Twins organization was going to make room for young guys to step up and see what they could do. Now after one bad outing, all though it was horrific, another top prospect is sent back down instead of letting him try to work it out. Sending prospects up and down can do something to their confidence. Let us hope that this does not affect

Berrios was sent down to make room for Taylor Rodgers, a left-handed pitcher from Triple-A Rochester. Rodgers has been with the Red Wings this season posting a 5.06 earned run average.
With the latest moves by the Twins franchise, it is easy to wonder what is going on and what is the direction the franchise is heading to. This season is lost so, in my opinion, let the young guys work through a bad game and see if they can get the hang of it. It is time to sort through the prospects we have and see what sticks.
