After the hiring of Tom Thibodeau, it was inevitable that the Minnesota Timberwolves front office was in for a drastic change.

Tom Thibodeau was bound to bring in his own coaching staff and front office people. There have been some rumors about who would be brought in.

Now we know what positions need to be filled, as this afternoon the Timberwolves have relieved a lot of people of their positions.

Here is the statement the Timberwolves released.

More from Sporting Sota

"Minnesota Timberwolves and President of Basketball Operations Tom Thibodeau and General Manager Scott Layden announced changes in the team’s front office and coaching structure:Minnesota Timberwolves and President of Basketball Operations Tom Thibodeau and General Manager Scott Layden announced changes in the team’s front office and coaching structure:Effective immediately the following individuals will be relieved of their duties: previous General Manager Milt Newton, Vice President of Basketball Operations Ross Babcock, Vice President of Sports Performance Arnie Kander, Assistant Coach Sid Lowe, Director of Sports Performance Koichi Sato, Manager of Travel/Facilities Coordinator Bill Hohenecker, Head of the Video Department and Manager of Basketball Technology Brice Long and Scouts Milton Barnes and Jason Hervey. We would like to thank all of these individuals for the contributions to our organization and wish them well in their future endeavors."

During his time away from coaching this season Thibodeau has spent time with thirteen different franchises learning how to build a front office and coaching staff, which he will do his way.

A lot of these moves were expected. The big hit to the team I would say is the loss of Arnie Kander, who was known as one of the better Sports Performance trainers in the NBA. It will be hard to replace him, but after learning that Kander and Thibodeau had no contact throughout the last few weeks made this move seem inevitable.

One name not mentioned was Ryan Sauders, the assistant coach, and son of Flip Saunders. This does not mean he is safe from the firing squad but since Thibodeau and Saunders were close I imagine that he will have a job with the team.
