PFF Ranks Minnesota Vikings Offseason With B+
Another football media outlet did their offseason rankings and gave the Minnesota Vikings a B+.
Pro Football Focus, the analytics measuring website, has given their offseason grades for each team in the NFL. They did the NFC North division today. This makes another national media outlet to give the Minnesota Vikings good marks on the moves they made to upgrade their personnel this offseason.
First, they talked about the importance of upgrading the offensive line with the free agent acquisitions of Alex Boone and Andre Smith. They also pointed out the importance of bringing back Terrence Newman, the “ageless wonder.” By resigning Newman, they have time to bring along their newly drafted cornerback Mackensie Alexander, like they did last season with Trae Waynes.
Next, they evaluated the Vikings recent draft class. Although Laquon Treadwell was their eleventh ranked wide receiver, they mention that he fits the Vikings offense better than other prospects. They also talked about the value that the Vikings got by drafting Alexander, who had a first-round grade, although he might not see much playing time in year one. They did not like the selection of Willie Beavers, as he was the worst ranked tackle in college football according to their rankings last season.
In conclusion, this is what they had to say about the Vikings offseason.

"Somewhere in this Minnesota roster is a talented offensive line, but it’s not clear whether they will be able to assemble the right five-man combination to show that for the 2016 season. In Alex Boone and Andre Smith, the team brought in two players that have each shown Pro-Bowl caliber play, but neither has reached it since the 2012 season, and Willie Beavers will defy every snap of grading we have on him over the past two seasons if he can prove the team right and become a good player inside at guard after his position switch.Adding talent like Mackensie Alexander represents some excellent value in the draft, but overall, this offseason for the Vikings is one more of potential than clear upgrade moves. That potential can work in either direction."
