The Minnesota Vikings have been building towards a contender for a few years, and national media has taken notice.

It seems like this offseason, the national media has finally taken notice of what the Minnesota Vikings have built. Bucky Brooks of NFL.com gave his ranking of the NFL’s most talented rosters yesterday. The Vikings are the number 5 ranked team on that list.

The teams ahead of the Vikings are Denver, Carolina, Pittsburgh and then Seattle ranks number one. This is great company for the Vikings to be in. It seems like people and media around the country are starting to give the Vikings some respect.

Here is what Brooks had to say about the Vikings.

More from Sporting Sota

"Blue chips: Adrian Peterson, RB; Kyle Rudolph, TE; Linval Joseph, NT; Everson Griffen, DE; Anthony Barr, LB; Xavier Rhodes, CB; Harrison Smith, S.Risers: Teddy Bridgewater, QB; Sharrif Floyd, DT; Eric Kendricks, LB.The Vikings are built to be a heavyweight contender in the NFC for the next few seasons. Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer have assembled a championship-caliber roster that features a number of blue-chip talents with a blue-collar mentality at the marquee positions. On defense, the Vikings have a set of energetic pass rushers (Griffen and Barr) to complement a rock-solid defensive tackle adept at swallowing up blockers (Joseph). Smith is the NFL’s best-kept secret between the hashes. The fifth-year pro is not only a wily ballhawk, but he delivers devastating blows to pass catchers venturing over the middle. With Rhodes showing promise as a CB1, the Vikings‘ defense can spearhead a Super Bowl push with little assistance from an offense that’s led by the unstoppable Peterson."

A lot of the credit for this team being where it is has to go to the front office. Rick Spielman has done right by Mike Zimmer in giving him the right pieces to build this team with. The defense has been the focus for the last couple years, and they are ready to make the jump to Super Bowl contender.

Brooks has shown a liking to the Vikings and what they have done in the last couple seasons on multiple occasions. At this year’s combine, Brooks told the Vikings media team that the team was just a piece or two away. It seems like they got that piece in Laquon Treadwell.

Expect the Vikings to be contending for not just division championships, but Super Bowls for the next few years. This team has been built for a nice run. They will only take another step forward this season. Expect the players Brooks listed as “Risers” to step into the “Blue Chip” column and new “Risers” to step up from this year’s rookie class.
