After a monster statistical weekend from first baseman Joe Mauer, he has been named the American League Player of the Week.

After a great weekend at the plate from Joe Mauer, he has been voted to be the American League Player of the Week for the first time since 2009. This is also the first time a Minnesota Twins player has received this honor since the 2014 season.

With the Twins posting a 4-2 record over the last week, Mauer was really raking. Mauer hit four home runs, one in each win in the Seattle series, and batted in seven RBI’s. He also scored seven times.

After a couple down seasons, it seems as if Mauer has his swing back. There was a lot of speculation that Mauer lost his swing due to the blurred vision from concussions. He also switched to wearing sunglasses at the plate, which has seemed to work out for him. He is back to his old self.
