Maya Moore Named Player of the Month as Lynx Roll On
After starting the season with 6 straight wins, it looks like Maya Moore and the Minnesota Lynx have not missed a step after last season’s WNBA Championship.
Starting the season with an undefeated record the Minnesota Lynx look a step above every other team they have played so far this season. The team’s best player, Maya Moore, is already making her case to be the MVP in 2016-17.
Maya Moore was awarded the Western Conference Player of the Month for May 2016 after being named the Western Conference Player of the Week last week. Moore is leading this team on the court.
Moore averaged 22.3 points, 5.3 assists, and 4.3 rebounds in six games in May, shooting 54.4% from the floor and 87.1% from the line. Her month started off with a 27-point and career-high 10-assist performance in the home opener win over Phoenix on May 14. The point and assist tallies mark the first time in WNBA history a player has finished with at least 10 points and 10 assists in a season opener.

Multiple Lynx players are playing well already this season. From Lindsay Whalen to Seimone Augustus, the Lynx are playing in sync. The recent acquisition of Janel McCarville, back to where she played her college ball with Whalen, has been a good addition to the team as well.
If the Minnesota Lynx keep playing at this pace, there is no doubt that they will be in contention for a back to back WNBA Championship. If Maya Moore can continue to be the anchor for this team, they will have a good chance at achieving this goal. The Lynx have been in the WNBA Championship four times in the last five years.
