With the NBA Draft tonight, the rumor mill is in full swing. There have been a lot of rumors on what the Minnesota Timberwolves will do with their pick. Now we hear a rumor that the Timberwolves are looking to move their starting point guard.

As we come into the NBA Draft, there is not a sure bet on what the new Minnesota Timberwolves front office is thinking. They have been very tight-lipped over the offseason. There has been much speculation.

Now we have heard the recent rumor that the Philadelphia 76ers are interested in moving into the third pick to select Kris Dunn. If a deal can not be worked out to acquire that pick, the Sixers are looking into Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio. They have been doing their research on Rubio since last year’s trade deadline.

If a trade could be put together in which Rubio was sent to Philadelphia for Nerlens Noel, and the Timberwolves select Kris Dunn with their fifth pick, this might be an ideal situation for the franchise.

There would be some risk in handing over the keys to the starting point guard position to a rookie in Kris Dunn, but Noel would be a nice fit next to Towns. Noel has the ability to be a great rim protector.

This would be an ironic trade since a few weeks back we heard Rubio’s comments on a Spanish sports radio station, mentioning he might have to think about moving to a contender if the Timberwolves did not make a playoff push this season. It would be certainly ironic that he might get his wish to move on, all though it is to the Sixers, a team much farther behind the Timberwolves in playoff potential.

Is this a good option for the Timberwolves? Would they be smart to deal Rubio and get a defensive stud in Noel while being able to still grab Dunn at 5? We will find out soon enough.
