Former Minnesota Viking wide receiver Randy Moss has been hired by ESPN, replacing ex-teammate Cris Carter who was terminated by Disney, ESPN’s parent company.

Cris Carter’s current career pain appears to be Randy’s gain.

According to an article from ESPN, former Viking wideout Randy Moss will be joining the mega-corp starting in 2016.

"Randy Moss, a six-time Pro Bowler and one of the most transcendent wide receivers in NFL history, is joining ESPN. He will serve as an analyst on Sunday NFL Countdown and Monday Night Countdown from the site of each week’s Monday Night Football game. He will also contribute to ESPN’s annual Super Bowl week coverage."

Randy flew (literally) onto Minnesota Viking fans radar in 1998, teaming with Cris Carter to make up one of the best receiving duos in NFL history. Moss possessed game changing speed that was on full display for six years in Minnesota. He brought a spark to the upper Midwest that made people forget about winter until the end of football season.

Cris Carter’s unexpected termination from ESPN left an opening that his old teammate was hired to fill. Carter had a recurring bit on Monday Night Countdown called, “C’mon man”, which maybe replaced by Randy’s signature quote, “Straight cash homey”. ESPN is hoping that the transition goes as smooth as Moss’ rookie season.

Moss started his broadcasting gig at Fox Sports in 2013, after finishing his playing career with the San Francisco 49ers. Randy Moss spent fourteen seasons (Vikings, Raiders, Patriots, Titans, and 49ers) running around NFL cornerbacks and will most likely be enshrined in Canton one day. Besides his duties as a broadcaster, Moss will continue to support his many charity endeavors since retiring from his prolific football career.

Although Moss was plagued by character concerns early on in life, he has proven the idiom, not to judge a book by its cover, to be true- building an impressive NFL resume and blossoming that into a broadcasting position with ESPN. Not bad for a kid from Rand, West Virginia.

Randy Moss will have some boisterous shoes to fill in Carters absents, ESPN thinks he’s up for the challenge.
