Minnesota Twins lose tough game against Red Sox
By Ryan Palmer
The Minnesota Twins have been playing some decent baseball lately, has anyone noticed though?
It’s rough for any baseball fan when his/her favorite ball club is struggling. The losing seems to be especially painful when your team is out of contention early. It makes an elongated MLB season feel even longer. Such is the life of anyone who follows the Minnesota Twins.
Not wanting to stay in the doldrums heading into late summer, let’s try to stay positive despite the tough loss on Sunday.
The Minnesota Twins were heading into Fenway Park on Sunday afternoon having won 6 out of their last 10 games. Unfortunately they were facing Rick Porcello, who was 9-0, with an ERA under 3.00 at home.
After giving up some bruising 3-run homers the Twins could have withered in the Boston sun. Instead they attempted a valiant comeback, scoring two runs in both the seventh and eighth innings, getting within one going into the ninth.
The Twins came up just short- losing 8-7 to the Red Sox, extending Boston’s Porcello winning streak to ten games in-front of his home crowd. Minnesota showed some fight attempting to battle back from behind; and just may have won the game if not for some crucial early errors on defense.
Miguel Sano extended a streak of his own, committing an error in three straight games at third base. But such is the dichotomy of two teams trending in different directions.

Since the departure of GM Terry Ryan the club has shown more signs of life as of late. Nobody is expecting a real-life scenario like that out of the film Major League. My version would have a cardboard cutout of Terry placed in the locker room, removing his three button suit one small piece at a time until the Twins win the division.
Perhaps Ryan’s departure, fair or unfair, was the much needed wake-up call both players and coaches needed. In any case it’s just refreshing to see a competitive team on the field.
