Mike Zimmer gets contract extension

More from Sporting Sota

Pro Football Talk reported that Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer received an early contract extension Thursday morning. Terms of the deal were not immediately released. Zimmer discussed the issue in Thursdays press conference, expressing his gratitude and thanks to the Wilf family and Vikings organization.

This should only galvanize the team’s belief in Mike Zimmer and the way he’s leading the organization. Zimmer expressed that was no rush, or pressure to get the extension done.

Taylor Heinicke shows up in cast

The Vikings number three QB has had better weeks. Being a third string QB in the NFL is hard enough, needing a scooter to roll into training camp doesn’t help. Will this be the opportunity former Wisconsin Badger Joel Stave needs to make an impression. Mike Zimmer will release an injury update after the team undergoes a mandatory conditioning test Thursday night.

Speaking of QB’s

The Nick Foles rumor mill has been churning in regards to a landing spot for the former Eagle/Ram. According to 1500ESPN the Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings are on Foles’ short list. Could Taylor Heinicke’s injury make Foles more enticing to Minnesota?

Shaun Hill is the definition of a perennial back-up QB. The 15-year NFL veteran didn’t see the field much in 2015 (2 completions, 7 attempts). Could the Vikings be wondering what the 36-year old has left?
