After an amazing rookie campaign, Karl-Anthony Towns is saying and doing all the right things these days.

After becoming the first pick in last year’s NBA Draft, Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns is growing in popularity and saying all the right things to make the fanbase happy.

This summer has been the coming out party for Karl-Anthony Towns. He started the offseason winning the Rookie of the Year award, unanimously at that. After that Towns was seen all over national media. Interviews at the NBA Finals, talking about why he was attending and wanting to learn what it takes to be a winner and get to a championship himself.

Towns was also seen on the Jimmy Kimmel show. He even had a feature on a Disney show. He is starting to be known nationally, which is something that can benefit the Timberwolves in many ways.

With Towns proving that an professional athlete does not need to be in a “major market” to be a household name, this could help the Timberwolves sign players to long term contracts.

Another thing that was a nice sight was Towns, Wiggins, and Lavine attending a majority of the Timberwolves Summer League games. As we all know, the Summer League does not hold much weight. These young stars attending these games shows that they are committed to this team. Not very often do you see players attending their team’s Summer League matchups, and if you do it might be one game as a player spends a weekend in Vegas. But for the Timberwolves young stars, this was a chance to become leaders and mesh with their new head coach.

Towns has been so vocal as of late it seems that he will be the second coming of KG as the Timberwolves vocal leader on and off the court. Wiggins has the star power, but has always had a different type of personality in comparison to Towns.

Towns just held his first basketball camp in Hopkins, MN last week. He has been spending a lot of time in the Twin Cities this offseason. Towns stayed across the street from the Mayo Clinic Sports Facility last season, but now has purchased his first home in Minnesota. Last week Towns was quoted saying he wants to play here for the rest of his career. Wouldn’t that be amazing!
