The Minnesota Vikings are off to an incredible start to the season, but is it sustainable? Monday’s contest versus the Giants will be a great test.

There is no hotter team in the NFL at the moment than the Minnesota Vikings. Minnesota hasn’t lost a regular season game since December 10, 2014, against the Arizona Cardinals. They have rattled off six victories in a row, with defense being the key ingredient.

In a game almost everyone thought the Vikings had no chance of winning in Week 3, they stormed into Charlotte and put on a defensive clinic. That wretched ‘let down’ game seems to be alluding the Vikings so far in 2016.

In those six-straight regular season victories, the Viking’ defense is allowing opponents a paltry 14.5 points per game. This team has found its calling under Mike Zimmer. A mistake-free offense. and a punishing defense, a proven blue-print for success.

Mentally and physically, the Vikings can beat you. Just watch three minutes of a Minnesota Vikings presser with Mike Zimmer, and you can see where his players get their attitude from. There is no faking toughness when you’re lined up against 300+ pound monsters. You either have it, or you don’t, and Zimmer has a whole roster full of bullies. It has been fun watching opponents almost quit after halftime, they want no part of the Vikings’ physicality.

A mentally weak team would have folded after suffering through what the Minnesota Vikings have endured. Working hard everyday, combined with Zim’s style of coaching, has helped Rick Spielman put together a roster that has bought into the system.

Personally, the biggest highlight for me from last Sunday was watching Cordarrelle Patterson play gunner on special teams. Patterson is trying to make a difference anyway he can, something you couldn’t say about the youngster last year. Even Cordarrelle has bought in.

Monday night is the perfect opportunity to show what this team is capable of. The Vikings are coming off two huge wins over the Packers and Panthers, making a game like Monday’s scary to a Vikings’ fan. The Giants are a team that we should beat pretty handedly. Now is the time when that fear of a poor performance can creep into the cerebrum.

Eli Manning and crew are 2-1, but have yet to face a team with this type of moxie. In front of a sold-out, and exuberant crowd at U.S. Bank Stadium, the Minnesota Vikings will look to make a statement. Zimmer will not let his player’s have a hiccup.

A decisive win on Monday Night Football would put the Minnesota Vikings in a sweet position, undefeated after four games. Complacency is not in the Vikings’ DNA, proving my fear of a let-down is simply irrational.
