Kris Dunn might’ve just gotten a leg up in the point guard battle for the Minnesota Timberwolves, at least in the fans’ eyes.

Only 67 times. That is how many times that Kris Dunn has posted a tweet on Twitter in his year and change on the social media platform. He’s not a prolific tweeter, but Dunn posted something earlier this week that might’ve made the former Providence guard every Minnesotan  a big fan of the Minnesota Timberwolves first round pick.

Only 13 words and one emoji. That’s all the tweet was. Simple and straight to the point.

At 12:57 on May 31 was when that tweet was sent and that also marks the time that homegrown Wolves fans effectively pushed the memories of Ricky Rubio and Tyus Jones out of their minds and fully embraced Dunn as the only point guard for them.

Of course, this is all said with tongue firmly in cheek. That being said, Dunn could be a very important piece going forward for Minnesota.

More from Sporting Sota

Dunn was selected with the fifth overall pick in last year’s NBA Draft. He was quickly picked as the popular favorite as the front runner for Rookie of the Year honors. That never even came close to blossoming for Dunn. The point guard played in 71 games for Tom Thibodeau and the Timberwolves last season. He did notch seven starts but only averaged 3.8 points, 2.4 assists, 2.1 rebounds and 1 steal a game in his rookie campaign.

It simply wasn’t a great rookie season for Dunn. Dunn is young, but will still have to make himself noticed to get some more minutes away from Rubio and Jones. He only averaged 17.1 minutes per game last season.

Work needs to be done for Dunn to reach the potential that he has, but with one single tweet Dunn bought himself some patience and love from Timberwolves diehards. We Minnesotans love our teams, but we love our state even more.
