Mike Zimmer has returned to the Vikings
From his old Kentucky home to Winter Park, Minnesota Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer has returned to the team.
Two weeks ago, the Minnesota Vikings banished their head coach to his Kentucky ranch so he wasn’t able to drive over to the practice facility. The team had someone drive the coach to his estate in Kentucky so he could rest after an eighth eye surgery, but now Mike Zimmer has returned to the team.
The Vikings announced this triumphant return in the only way to properly announce something in 2017. Here are the tweets complete with GIFs from the team:

1500ESPN reports that Zimmer will be addressing the media on Tuesday in his return to Organized Team Activities. Zimmer returns to the team with a week left of the Organized Team Activities while the team will host a mandatory mini-camp next week.
The quick return for Zimmer should not come as a shock. In the statement released by General Manager Rick Spielman it said that “We anticipate Mike back on the field in a couple weeks.”
That statement from Spielman and Zimmer’s trip out to Kentucky occurred on May 22. The return of Zimmer was announced on June 5. According to my calendar, that is exactly two weeks.
When Zimmer left, he talked with Paul Allen and said all that was needed for his eye was rest.
"“The retina looks great, the pressure in my eye is really good. So at this point now, we just need to take it easy and make sure it heals the right way.”"

Now Zimmer is coming back to a team that has a big offseason ahead of them. The return of Teddy Bridgewater to the field and the first full offseason of Sam Bradford as a Viking is just the tip of the iceberg that Zimmer now gets to deal with again. Of course, it might be an important year for Zimmer’s on-the-field results after the team’s absolute collapse in the second half of the 2016 season.
Zimmer is going into his fourth season as the head coach of the Vikings. Minnesota has one NFC North Championship in Zimmer’s tenure and two third place finishes. The Vikings finished 7-9 in Zimmer’s first season in 2014, 11-5 in his second season and 8-8 last season. Minnesota has played in one postseason game during Zimmer’s tenure which resulted in a loss to the Seattle Seahawks in a home game played at TCF Bank Stadium.
