Minnesota Vikings put legends Moss and Rashad into the team’s Ring of Honor.

The Minnesota Vikings haven’t inducted anyone into the Vikings Ring of Honor since 2013, but that changed on Wednesday. The team surprised Randy Moss and Ahmad Rashad at Winter Park and notified them that they are now members of the team’s Ring of Honor.

The Vikings didn’t induct anyone into the Ring of Honor during the team’s two years at the Minnesota Golden Gophers’ TCF Bank Stadium or the inaugural season at U.S. Bank Stadium. Moss and Rashad join 23 other members of the Ring of Honor.

According to Vikings.com, the Ring of Honor includes:

"Fran Tarkenton, Alan Page, Jim Finks, Bud Grant, Paul Krause, Fred Zamberletti, Jim Marshall, Ron Yary, Korey Stringer, Mick Tingelhoff, Carl Eller, Cris Carter, Bill Brown, Jerry Burns, Randall McDaniel, Chuck Foreman, John Randle, Scott Studwell, Chris Doleman, Matt Blair and Joey Browner."

Vikings Owner/President released this statement via Vikings.com:

"“Randy and Ahmad are two of the most recognizable and decorated players in Vikings history. They were great players who made their marks on the NFL during their careers and were highly respected by teammates and opponents. They are as proud of their Vikings roots as we are to have them in our football family forever. Both Randy and Ahmad deserve this team honor, and we look forward to inducting them into the Ring of Honor during the 2017 season.”"

The Star Tribune reports that this was the first time that Moss returned to Winter Park since the team cut him during the 2010 season.  The team got Moss to the training complex to discuss his role for the upcoming Super Bowl in Minneapolis when the Ring of Honor honor was bestowed upon the big time receiver.

More from Sporting Sota

Most remember Moss’ stats as a Viking as being out-of-this-world and that is true.. Moss was named All-Pro three teams as a Viking and five Pro Bowls. Vikings.com also points out that in his career Moss posted 10 seasons of 1,000 yards, good for 2nd in NFL history and also ranks 2nd in NFL history with 64 career 100-yard games. Moss, of course, looks to be a Hall of Famer, if not a first ballot Hall of Famer.

Rashad spent seven of his 10 NFL seasons in purple while making four Pro Bowls including a Pro Bowl MVP.  Vikings.com states that Rashad had 6 seasons as a Viking with 50 catches, tied for 2nd-best in franchise history with Randy Moss and only trailing Cris Carter’s 11.

The pair of receivers will be enshrined in the Ring of Honor during a home game during the 2017 season.
