The Twins are beyond comprehension

The Minnesota Twins are a mystery.

I am trying to think of something intelligent to say about the Minnesota Twins. I really want to share some revelation that I have that explains what is going on with the local boys of summer. Honestly, I have no clue and I don’t think anyone really does. The Twins might not even know themselves.

We thought we had it figured out that, for the most part, Ervin Santana and Jose Berrios were going to be steady and the rest of the pitching was going to be shaky. Then Adalberto Mejia actually had a decent outing and the bullpen didn’t implode and that shakes that whole theory up.

Believe it or not, the bullpen was actually good over the weekend in Cleveland.

How is that even possible? The Twins bullpen was literally the worst in baseball and they go into the home of the defending American League champion and only give up two hits. The bullpen was so bad that I’m pretty sure earlier in the season they were giving up two hits on one pitch. I don’t know how that’s possible either.

The Twins have been swept multiple times this season by some very good teams and many called the Twins’ season dead after those. The Houston Astros creamed the Twins, but Minnesota bounced back nicely on a West Coast road trip. Cleveland swept the Twins less than a week ago while taking over first in the American League Central and the Twins quickly turned it around with a series win over the Chicago White Sox and a sweep of the Indians in Cleveland to retake the Central lead.

Throw on top of all of this that the Twins are incredible on the road but well under .500 at home and there’s indisputable proof that the Twins are beyond unpredictable. The Twins and the Astros are the only teams in the majors to have less than ten losses on the road, while the Twins have a 16-25 home record. It’s bizarre.

The Twins are at a point where they could run away with the division or finish in third behind the Indians and the hard-charging Kansas City Royals. It is anyone’s guess.

Minnesota is beyond comprehension. None of it makes sense, really. I’ll keep racking my brain and maybe that revelation I’m looking for will hit me by the All-Star Game… I’m not holding my breath.
