If you are heading to Las Vegas anytime soon put some money down on the Minnesota Vikings.

Las Vegas is a happening town right now. The Golden Knights finally have a full NHL roster, the Oakland Raiders will soon transplant themselves there and it’s the only place that you can see George Strait perform anymore. Some cool things are going on out in the desert, but not the over/under on wins for the Minnesota Vikings.

I was clicking around our friends at The Viking Age and they have a story right now on how Sam Bradford currently has 50:1 MVP odds. That got me thinking and scrolling on Bovada’s website on what the over/under is for the Vikings win total this upcoming season.

Bovada currently has the over/under at 8.5 wins for the Vikings in 2017. Bet the over.

The Minnesota Vikings are a lot closer to the team that was one of the last teams to stand undefeated in 2016 than the team that sputtered and collapsed at the end of the season. Sam Bradford, apparently with decent odds to win the MVP, has a full offseason to get acquainted to how the Vikings roll instead of a quick couple days. Adrian Peterson is gone, Latavius Murray is probably a better fit already and Dalvin Cook can succeed right away. The defense should still be quite solid and be able to stop a lot of good offenses.

There’s a lot of good reasons why the Vikings will get over 8.5 wins and one of the main reasons why is the division they play in. The NFC North is not a good division. The Chicago Bears are looking like they are going to tank to get in position for a nice draft pick. The Detroit Lions got super lucky throughout the 2016 season and are destined to crumble. The Green Bay Packers, well, they still have Aaron Rodgers, but they are not totally unbeatable.

It is not a crazy thought that the Vikings will get at least four wins in division games alone. Minnesota should sweep the lowly Chicago even with the Vikings’ troubles at Soldier Field. The Vikings should also sweep Detroit but it seems that Detroit always comes to play on Thanksgiving Day. Plus, the Vikings beat Green Bay in their meeting at US Bank Stadium in 2016 and there’s no reason that can’t occur again in 2017.

The Vikings get the pleasure of having the Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Rams and Washington Redskins on their schedule, too.

Minnesota doesn’t have a particularly easy schedule, but it also isn’t a murderer’s row either. Nine wins is very do-able for the purple and you might as well bet on it. Give King George my best wishes while you do.
