The Minnesota Timberwolves have cut Jordan Hill.

The Jordan Hill era has ended for the Minnesota Timberwolves. If you blinked, you might’ve missed it. Hill was a member of the Timberwolves for just over 11 months.

Hill only appeared in seven games for the Wolves in his year with the team. He averaged 1.7 points and two rebounds per game in that short sample size.

When Hill signed on July 20, 2016 he signed a two year deal with Minnesota, but the upcoming season was unguaranteed if Hill was off of the roster by July 1, 2017. The waiving of Hill opens up a roster space and $4 million worth of cap space.

Hill has eight NBA seasons under his belt and has bounced around multiple teams during that tenure. Hill has played for the New York Knicks, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Indiana Pacers and the Timberwolves.

For his career, Hill is averaging 7.9 points per game and 5.8 rebounds per game. Hill spent the longest tenure with the Lakers with a four season stint from 2011-2015. The former Arizona Wildcat has played in 409 games with 120 starts at the NBA level.

Hill was the eighth overall pick of the 2009 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks. Hill only played in 24 games with New York before being involved in a trade that sent him to the Rockets with Tracy McGrady going to the Knicks.

More from Sporting Sota

The move is mostly to free up more cap space for the Timberwolves. Free agency opens up on July 1, so the $4 million could be used up rather quickly. Who the Wolves might use that money on is anybody’s guess.

Rumors are still that Ricky Rubio might still be on the move and that would mean that the Wolves might be looking to add a point guard. The Wolves need shooting desperately, too. A big man defensive juggernaut would also be a welcome addition. Simply, the Wolves have a lot of options.

So long Jordan Hill. We hardly knew ye.
