Jimmy Butler had the best press conference of all time
Jimmy Butler had one heck of a press conference.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have the most attention on them right now probably since the team’s 2003-2004 season when Kevin Garnett led the team to the Western Conference finals. People are buzzing about a team that hasn’t made the playoffs for 13 years and that’s all thanks to Jimmy Butler.
Butler comes in as a potential savior to the woebegone franchise. His presence alone lifts the team to a new level and Minnesota has only had Butler for a week and a press conference, but, oh, what a press conference it was.

A couple thousand people showed up to the Mall of America rotunda to welcome the former Chicago Bull to the state of Minnesota. National media, Chicago media and, of course, Twin Cities media were all in attendance ready to revel in the glow of Jimmy G. Buckets.
Butler won before opening his mouth, but he said all the right things. Butler called the fans his people and that’s something every fan base loves to hear. His love for head coach Tom Thibodeau was evident and sincere. Oh, and he gave out his phone number.
I’m personally still waiting for Butler to text me back. Butler was taking calls later in the day, though.
The All-Star also said he knows Thibodeau’s voice gets annoying sometimes, but he’s here to be the middleman between coach and the rest of the team.
Butler is trying to bring in players that are better than him. Butler continually said that his own basketball skills are just okay and he didn’t say who specifically he was trying to recruit to Minnesota.
Butler flew out of town after the press conference because he hasn’t been home in a month, but he brought company with him. Karl-Anthony Towns attended the press conference and was sitting in the front row and then hopped on a flight with Butler.
Minnesotan’s didn’t need much to be won over by Butler but he won them over and then some on Thursday. To quote a former Timberwolves player, “We coming.”
