Miguel Sano has been placed on the 10-day disabled list.
This weekend the Minnesota Twins had an offensive explosion and swept up the Arizona Diamondbacks at Target Field. The impressive thing was the Twins beat Arizona 12-5 on Sunday without Miguel Sano in the lineup, but the not-so-good thing is that the Twins will have to continue this explosiveness without Sano for a while.
According to 1500 ESPN, Sano was placed on the DL after Sunday’s contest due to a stress reaction in his left shin. Sano fouled a ball of his leg on Friday, was pulled early from Saturday’s game and had an MRI revealing the reaction on Sunday morning.
How long will Sano be out? Manager Paul Molitor said this about a potential timeline:
"” … It’s causing him some pain and discomfort and to try to play through it I think the risk just goes up exponentially every day that he’s out there. We’ll try to get him right and hopefully have him ready sometime early in September. That’s what I’m hoping, but I don’t think there are any guarantees or confidence or anything like that. We’re just going to see how he progresses.”"
The Twins are about to embark on an eight game road trip which Sano will skip according to 1500 ESPN.

Sano was one of the team’s three All-Stars this season along with pitchers Ervin Santana and Brandon Kintzler. Sano is the current team leader in various offensive categories such as home runs and RBIs. The only positive is that the stint away from the team will slow down a potential record-breaking strikeout pace for the slugging third baseman.
Kennys Vargas is expected to be called up to the major league roster. With Sano being out for a spell, hopefully Vargas can take advantage of another opportunity with the big league squad in a season that has constantly had the slugger yo-yo from Triple-A Rochester to the Twins.
