Defense

DL: Everson Griffen, Linval Joseph, Tom Johnson, Danielle Hunter, Brian Robison, Jaleel Johnson, Shamar Stephen, Datone Jones, Tashawn Bower

LB: Eric Kendricks, Anthony Barr, Ben Gedeon, Edmond Robinson, Kentrell Brothers, Eric Wilson

DB: Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes, Terence Newman, Mackensie Alexander, Marcus Sherels, Harrison Smith, Andrew Sendejo, Antone Exum Jr., Jayron Kearse, Anthony Harris

Defensive Notes

  • Defensively, the defensive line is the only group that stayed the same. Tashawn Bower should still have hold of the last spot on the defensive line after another brilliant outing, while Jaleel Johnson should get an opportunity with the first-team in the coming games.
  • At linebacker, Kentrell Brothers returned to practice. I had read there was a possibility that he could go on IR, so I didn’t include him last week. Based on linebacker performances so far, I don’t think Brothers is in any danger of getting cut. I have him replacing Elijah Lee as the sixth linebacker. Just haven’t seen enough from Lee to keep him on the roster.
    • Emmanuel Lamur has been underwhelming. He should get cut given he’s making over $2 million.
  • In the defensive backfield, I added Anthony Harris because he’s a valuable special teams contributor. I mentioned in the second Vikings notebook that Harris needs to step up to make the roster and that still could be the truth if the Vikings decide to keep four safeties. I have Antone Exum Jr. and Jayron Kearse ahead of Harris on the safety depth chart.
