Minnesota Football: Gophers projected to reach Heart of Dallas Bowl

Minnesota football is just mere hours away. After months of build up to the P.J. Fleck era , the time has come to finally see what the Minnesota Golden Gophers are made of. We’ve talked about what will make the Gophers season a success and that included a bowl game appearance. Our friends at Sports Illustrated think that the Gophers will be making a bowl game.
Get your plans ready for a trip to Dallas, Texas because the Gophers will be heading to the Heart of Dallas Bowl. Who will the Gophers be playing? No other than Conference USA rival UTSA. For those of you at home who have lost track of your C-USA teams, that would be the University of Texas at San Antonio.

The potential matchup between the Gophers and the Roadrunners would be a late Christmas present. The Heart of Texas Bowl is scheduled for Tuesday, December 26 with a 1:30 start slated on ESPN. Mark your calendars now.
Sports Illustrated doesn’t have any Big Ten teams in the College Football Playoff, but they do have three Big Ten schools playing on New Year’s Day. SI predicts that Penn State will be taking on South Florida in the Cotton Bowl, Michigan will take on LSU in the Fiesta Bowl and Ohio State will take on Clemson in the Orange Bowl.

Before the Gophers can get to the bowl game, the Gophers need to win some regular season games first. That action, of course, kicks off on Thursday when Buffalo visits TCF Bank Stadium. The game is set for a 6:00 kickoff and can be seen on the Big Ten Network.
