Minnesota Vikings beef up defense with trade for Tramaine Brock
Minnesota Vikings shore up their defensive backfield with a trade for Tramaine Brock.
It is a busy time in the wonderful land of the NFL. Players are being cut and trades are being made while the league cuts their rosters down to 53. The Minnesota Vikings, of course, are cutting a lot of folks, but the purple also made a big move to strengthen the defensive backfield. The Vikings have traded for corner back Tramaine Brock from the Seattle Seahawks for a conditional 7th round pick according to Adam Schefter.
Brock had spent the first seven seasons of his career with the San Francisco 49ers, before being picked up by the Seahawks. The 29-year-old has 11 interceptions in his career and has appeared in eight playoff games.
Brock was cut from the 49ers this offseason after he was arrested due to a domestic violence charge which was later dropped due to insufficient evidence, according to 1500 ESPN. The accusations included punching and trying to strangle his girlfriend. In one of those occurrences, Brock’s girlfriend was pregnant.

The addition of Brock is probably not a great PR move for the team, but it should be a good move for the defensive backfield. Throughout the preseason, the Vikings team brought up a lot of question marks, but the defensive backfield became a much bigger one after Mackensie Alexander played a whole lot in the preseason finale.
The last two seasons, Brock has started in every game he appeared in for the 49ers. Last season, Brock intercepted one pass while deflecting 14 along with a fumble recovery. In 2015, Brock collected three interceptions for San Francisco.
Brock was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week in Week 5 of the 2013 season. In 2013, Brock had a total of five interceptions including one he returned for a touchdown.
