The day has finally come! Let’s preview the Minnesota Vikings first game of the year against the hated New Orleans Saints.

Finally, the first game of the season is upon us, Minnesota Vikings fans! Not only are we at the start of the season, the Vikings start at home in the early of two games on Monday Night Football. Add the fact that Adrian Peterson will be making his return to Minnesota as a member of the New Orleans Saints, intriguing may not be the proper word to describe this matchup.

The quest for being the first team to ever host its own Super Bowl begins Monday night. The game can be watched on ESPN at 6:10 p.m., Central Time.

Obviously, both teams are 0-0 right now but the Saints ended 2016 with a 7-9 record and out of the playoffs. The Saints’ passing offense was prolific as ever by ranking number-one overall in the NFL. Their offense was also second-best in overall scoring; finishing just behind the Atlanta Falcons in that category.

The Saints’ defense, however, was at or near the bottom in nearly every major category one year ago. New Orleans obviously knew their greatest weakness was on the defensive side of the ball; they now will have eight new starters on defense.

This being week-one of the NFL, few know how the new editions will gel. Likewise for the Vikings offensive line who will be starting five guys that have exactly zero snaps with each other in live game action.

This game may go a long way in deciding which, if either of these two teams make the playoffs. The team that can get the most out of their new additions will most assuredly be the team that comes out on top.
