Joe Mauer

The relationship with Twins fans and Joe Mauer is really an interesting tale. Some will love Joe Mauer forever and ever and some will think he is overpaid and overrated until the day he retires. That is just the lightning rod that Mauer is right now.

The Twins and Twins fans should be thankful for Mauer. Not only for this past season, but for his career as a whole. Mauer was on a Hall of Fame track until concussions made him move to first base and Mauer has made the most of that move.

It is an absolute joke that Mauer wasn’t one of the three finalists for the American League Gold Glove at first base. Heck, he should have won it. That’s how good Mauer has become at a brand new position.

Mauer also got back on track at the plate in 2017. Mauer hit over .300 in 2017 for the first time since the 2013 campaign. RBIs and doubles were up as well for the Minnesota native.
