Minnesota Vikings sign wide receiver Brandon Zylstra
The Minnesota Vikings have signed wide receiver Brandon Zylstra to a reserve/future free agent contract.
It is never too early to look forward to next season, apparently. The Minnesota Vikings are more than a week away from playing their first playoff game of the 2017-18 season and already are making some moves for the 2018-19 campaign. Minnesota signed wide receiver Brandon Zylstra to a reserve/future free agent contract on Wednesday.
Zylstra might be a familiar name to folks that are hardcore knowledge nuts about Minnesota football. Zylstra is from Spicer, Minnesota, attended New London – Spicer High School and played college ball at Concordia – Moorhead. It appears that the only football team that Zylstra has been apart of outside of Minnesota is his recent stint with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League.
Zylstra had an All-Star season this last season with the Eskimos. He led the entire CFL with 1,687 receiving yards on 100 catches with five touchdowns on the season which was good enough for All-Star honors north of the border.

The Minnesota native has played two seasons in the Canadian Football League. Not only did Zylstra play a great wide receiver position this season, but also returned 22 punts and four kickoffs for the Eskimos. In 16 games played this last season, he went over 100 yards receiving 11 times including a 201 yard game against Montreal.
If we go back to his college career, Zylstra had 1,932 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns at Concordia – Moorhead. Zylstra played in 29 games with the Cobbers.
This contract, of course, will not affect the Vikings during the postseason. This move is purely for the next league year. Teams around the league, playoff and non-playoff teams, can start signing players to these reserve/future free agent contract deals once the regular season ends but the cap hit and roster spaces don’t take affect until the new league year starts.
The current Vikings squad will take it easy this week while waiting to see who they will play in the Divisional Round on January 14.
