Who will the Vikings take with the 30th pick in this years draft? We looked into one mock draft to get a better idea.

Mock draft season is upon us and the Vikings have a few holes left to fill when it comes to their roster this offseason. Recently Matt Miller from Bleacher Report released a mock draft that had the Vikings taking Guard/Center Billy Price from Ohio State.

Rick Spielman will definitely be looking for interior line help with Joe Berger and Jeremiah Sirles no longer on the roster. Judging by the kind of players that the Vikings have signed and drafted over the past few years, Price fits the bill perfectly. The ability to play multiple positions, combined with the prospect of immediately stepping in and starting makes Billy Price a strong candidate for the Vikings to take at pick 30.

However, we have seen in the past that if Spielman likes a player, he will make trades to move up and get them. To dismiss such a scenario would be naive, however, Minnesota is in a position where they do not need to reach to make sure they do not miss out on any player for any particular position. At this point, they are basically filling out their roster, adding depth and looking for the long-term payoff with project players in the later rounds. The maneuvering in the draft that earned Spielman a number of nicknames happened when the Vikings had more starting spots to fill and seems unlikely this year.

We will have to wait until the draft to find out what the Vikings will actually do, but it would not be shocking if an interior lineman is the way they go in the first round.
