Offseason workout schedule released, Cousins and DeFilippo look to OTA’s

The Vikings will have new faces in important positions when the offseason programs begins in April.
The first day of offseason workouts for the Minnesota Vikings will begin April 16th, according to the NFL, who released the offseason schedules for all 32 NFL teams today via NFL.com. There are three phases to the offseason program, the most important being the 10 days of OTA’s, which start May 22nd for the Vikings.
This portion of the season is always important because there are always new players, but it will be especially important for the Vikings this season as they will all be getting acclimated to a new offensive coordinator in John DeFilippo and a new Quarterback in Kirk Cousins. We have heard from Zimmer that a lot of the terminology in the offense from previous seasons is staying the same in order to avoid having the entire offense relearn everything. However, there is still a new coach running the offense and calling the plays and there is still a brand new signal caller taking the snap every play, there will no doubt be an adjustment period and it most likely will extend well beyond the organized team activities.
For the 2018 season, it is the first chance to see the full team with the new rookies who were just drafted and how they and others may or may not fit in to the starting group based on the OTA reps. It may be making mountains out of mole hills but let’s be honest, reckless speculation is what the offseason is all about!
