With Week 1 on the horizon, the Minnesota Vikings have their 53-man roster in place as they prepare for 2025 regular season opener on Monday Night Football against the Chicago Bears.

While the players who survived the final cuts have shifted their attention to the game plan against the Bears, those who found themselves on the outside looking in on cut-down day are still searching for their next opportunity in the NFL.

One of those players who didn't crack the final roster or the team's practice squad, undrafted former Texas Longhorns WR/PR Silas Bolden, didn't have to wait too long for that next job opportunity.

According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, Bolden has come to terms with the Houston Texans, who will add him to the team's practice squad to start the 2025 campaign.

Silas Bolden Could Make Vikings Regret Cutting Him If He Balls Out for Texans

Vikings fans know as well as anyone that the wide receiver room in Minnesota is not in the best shape heading into Monday night's contest against their NFC North rival. This made Bolden a player who truly had an opportunity to stand out among the crowd with his elite speed and skills as a returner.

In the end, despite Minnesota's glaring needs at the WR position, Bolden did not do enough to make the team as Myles Price won the role as the team's primary return man. With one catch for a total of three yards during the preseason, it is difficult to even make the argument that for the undrafted Texas man.

However, Bolden could make Minnesota rue that decision now that he's landed with Houston. The Texans are in desperate need of receiving help with Stefon Diggs' departure and Tank Dell's uncertain injury status following his torn ACL, MCL and LCL. There's new faces on board in Christian Kirk, Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel, but the former is fresh off of his own injury troubles and the latter two are rookies. This means Bolden at least has a shot at working his way up the depth chart if he performs.

Bolden's return experience also gives him another avenue to an NFL role. Texans punt man Braxton Berrios is turning 30 years old this season, so Houston very much needs its speedster of the future. Kickoff returner Dameon Pierce may need to be protected as well with Joe Mixon sidelined under mysterious circumstances, and the same could be said for Noel if he proves to be a legit pass-catching threat right away.

So even though Bolden did fail to capitalize on a clear opportunity with the Vikes, he's found himself in a similarly promising situation with season-long potential now. At the very least, Minnesota should keep tabs on the playmaker it signed quickly after the draft just in case a mistake was made.
