Vikings Vet Makes it Clear He's Thrilled About Adam Thielen's Return
By Chris Schad

The Minnesota Vikings pulled off a trade with the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday morning to make the return of Adam Thielen official. The Vikings legend was brought back to the team along with a 2026 seventh-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick after Minnesota sent a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 fourth-round selection back to Carolina. But while the trade sounds complicated, the feelings over his return are not.
Some may be concerned due to the consequences Thielen’s arrival brings to the fellow receivers. But most of the team is happy to have him back. One Vikings veteran in particular wasted no time in displaying his emotions, hopping on social media to tell the world about Thielen’s return.

Josh Metellus Instantly Tells the World His Feelings on Adam Thielen Trade
Vikings safety Josh Metellus played three seasons with Thielen as a member of the practice squad in 2020 and a member of the active roster in 2021 and 2022. While Metellus has gone on to become the type of leader that Thielen was in his previous stint with the Vikings, he still showed everyone how he felt about the move in a post on his X account shortly after the trade was announced.
It’s safe to say that Metellus feels the same way Vikings fans feel about Thielen’s return. A former UDFA that made the team in 2014, Thielen worked his way up from a special teams standout to become a Vikings legend, ranking third in franchise history in receptions (534) and fifth in receiving yards (6,682) and receiving touchdowns (52). He also has one of the best backstories in franchise history, growing up in Detroit Lakes, Minn. and starring at Minnesota State University-Mankato during his collegiate career.
A two-time Pro Bowler and second-team All-Pro selection in 2017, Thielen provides experience to a receiver room that badly needs it. While Justin Jefferson has returned to practice after suffering a hamstring injury during training camp, Jordan Addison is suspended for the first three games of the season after violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. Jalen Nailor also had a disappointing training camp and the rest of the room was filled with Myles Price and Tim Jones after Tuesday’s roster deadline.
At 35 years old, there’s no guarantee that Thielen is the same player that he was the last time he was in Minnesota. But he brings a veteran that has previous experience in Kevin O’Connell’s offense and fills an immediate need as the Vikings begin the year with Super Bowl aspirations.
