The Minnesota Lynx Game 1 win was indestructible. And with that near perfect win the talk has now shifted to an automatic sweep. But Lynx Coach Cheryl Reeve has cautioned her team to ignore the talk of a sweep and focus on Thursday night’s game.
“(I’ve had to tell fans and family) to go home. I don’t want to hear from them,” Reeve said. “It is a dangerous mind-set to have right now. This group doesn’t buy that, and I won’t let them buy it.”
While the score on Sunday favored the Lynx, not every player was on for the Lynx and there is plenty of room for improvement. All-Stars Lindsay Whalen and Rebekkah Brunson finished a combined 3-of-10 for seven points.
The Lynx will try to avoid a Game 2 slump. The Lynx still have the bitter taste of falling in the Finals in 2012 to the Indiana Fever, and it’s not something they want to taste again.
“I think we are setting ourselves up for success. Winning Game 1 at home and obviously last year was not how we wanted to end the season,” said Lynx guard Monica Wright. “I’m sure everyone took that personal and if you just kind of look at how our season has kind of played out, you can tell we are trying to make a different ending to this season.”
