Jared Allen to Stay a Minnesota Viking For Now

Much of this afternoon was spent talking about whether or not the Minnesota Vikings would trade Jared Allen. And as the 3:00 deadline came and went, Allen will stay a Viking with the rest of the team since no one was traded this afternoon.

According to Jay Glazer’s twitter account https://twitter.com/JayGlazer He said he was contacted by Allen and he said, “Just got this text from Jared Allen: “Proud to still be a Viking. I watched all the trade stuff like everyone else. It is a part of this business. 100% committed to turning this season around.”

Allen is in the final year of his contract. If he leaves as a free agent after the season, the Vikings would receive a third-round draft choice as compensation. The Vikings more than likely wanted more than that in a trade.

Contract talks for Allen have been pretty silent this season, but hopefully the Vikings are willing to fight for the star Defensive end.

The Vikings are 1-6 and going nowhere. Any deal they would have made would have been with an eye toward the future.
