Minnesota Timberwolves: Karl-Anthony Towns named Western Conference Rookie of the Month

The Minnesota Timberwolves have another rookie campaigning for Rookie of the Year and Karl-Anthony Towns is off to a good start with the Western Conference’s Rookie of the Month for November.

Even with head coach Sam Mitchell not seemingly liking to play his big time rookie in the fourth quarter recently, that has not stopped Minnesota Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns from brining in the hardware in his first month in the association. Towns has been named the Western Conference’s Rookie of the Month for the month of November.

The Kentucky product has averaged 13.9 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks a game so far in his rookie campaign. Towns has also notched eight double-doubles so far in his effort to help the Wolves to a very intriguing start to the 2015-16 campaign.

1500ESPN reports that six other Timberwolves have won the Rookie of the Month award: Andrew Wiggins, Gorgui Dieng, Ricky Rubio, Kevin Love, Randy Foye and Stephon Marbury. Wiggins won the award five times last season.

The first month of the NBA season has been an absolutely wonderful one for Towns. While he has had some down games, which all rookies do, he has shown a lot of promise for his flowering professional career. Not only did Towns win the award in November, he also turned 20 on the 15th so there is nothing but a whole lot of time, improvement and greatness coming for Towns.
