Minnesota Timberwolves looking to trade Kevin Martin

The Associated Press is reporting that the Minnesota Timberwolves have made Kevin Martin available via trade.

The Wolves traveled to New York to take on the Knicks, but were without Kevin Martin due to a hand injury. Martin might soon be gone from the Wolves even more permanently as the AP is reporting that the team has made Martin available via trade.

Jon Krawczynski is reporting that since Zach LaVine has found the ability to score and with Andrew Wiggins playing the two, or shooting guard if you will, it has opened up the possibility for a trade to be made by general manager Newt Milton.

Martin is averaging 12.6 points a game so far for the Wolves this season, but has been known to score a whole lot more than that throughout his 12 year career. Martin didn’t start the season as the starting shooting guard for the Timberwolves, but has regained that title by the end of November.

More from Minnesota Timberwolves

Martin would make sense for a good amount of teams that are looking for a final piece or two to make a deep playoff run. Martin’s scoring ability and ability to start or come off the bench would have the potential to make a major difference for a highly competitive team.

The move would make sense for the Wolves, too. The potential departure of Martin would help ease up the logjam of guards that the Wolves currently have. Martin leaving would ease and open up minutes for LaVine, Shabazz Muhammad and potentially Tyus Jones when he returns from burning up the D-League with the Idaho Stampede.
