The Minnesota Vikings have apparently added another coach to their defensive staff, according to ESPN’s Ben Goessling, the Vikings are bringing in former University of Idaho Coach Robb Akey to be their defensive line coach, according to multiple reports in Idaho.

Akey has never coached in the NFL, but he has experience with Zimmer so that probably brought him to the Vikings. Their former defensive line coach Brendan Daly was announced as a defensive assistant with the New England Patriots earlier this week.
Akey played for Weber State from 1984-87 when Zimmer was there, and spent one season on Zimmer’s defensive staff at the school. He’d been the defensive coordinator at Washington State for four seasons before getting the job at Idaho in 2007, and last coached there in 2012.
