You Said It: Teddy Bridgewater is the Man for the Job
By Nick Fritz
According to Sporting Sota readers, the Minnesota Vikings have found the right guy to lead them under center for years to come. Of 150 voters, 118 think Teddy Bridgewater is the long-term answer at QB for the Vikings compared to just 3 voters who think he’s not. 29 voters want to see more, thinking it’s just too early to tell.
While understandably inconsistent for a 22-year-old rookie, we’ve seen some very positive signs from number 5. At 63.5%, Teddy is 14th in the NFL in completion percentage. That puts him ahead of the likes of Eli Manning, Andy Dalton, Matt Stafford and Andrew Luck. Despite the well-known turmoil he and the Vikings have endured this season, Bridgewater has kept the ship afloat with a .500 record as a starter.
I highly doubt Offensive Coordinator Norv Turner voted in my poll, but if he did he would have sided with the winning party.
“It’s pretty incredible to me what he’s done, how he’s handled it, the things he’s gotten done and what he’s really done is made everyone around him better and that’s a quality that you’re looking for … the thing that excites me is he can make any throw you need to make — he does it with people around him, he does it with people hitting him, he does it when he has to slide in the pocket. He knows how to play football and that’s the starting point of the quarterback position. He’s got the intangibles you need and he’s going to continue to get better and better,” Turner said, via Matt Vensel of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
Teddy takes the field next in his home town of Miami, Florida against a Dolphins team that has yet to allow a 300 yard passer this season. But coming off of two straight 300+ yard performances, there’s a strong chance our guy will be the first.
