Mike Zimmer has gone on record, saying he does not expect the Vikings to spend a ton of money in free agency this year. Still, if the price and situation is right I could see them possibly bringing in a receiver.

There were rumors that Larry Fitzgerald‘s time in Arizona was possibly coming to an end and if so, maybe he would be a fit for the Vikings. While he can still make plays, with where he is at in his career I was not so sure it would have made sense. On the other hand, he is…

…so it made sense that it was a story. While it would have been pretty cool, Fitzgerald is officially staying with the Cardinals.

Another rumor is that the Houston Texans could release Andre Johnson. Johnson was disgruntled last season and made it clear he preferred to be traded than continuing to play in Houston. I am not convinced he will be let go but if he is, the Vikings would be smart to at least kick his tires.

There is also some scuttlebutt that Brandon Marshall could be available via trade but it is hard to imagine the Bears would be willing to trade him within the division or that the Vikings would give up the assets necessary to acquire him. Ultimately I don’t think the Vikings will end up with a receiver coming from someone else’s roster but only time will tell.
